Join Baylor alumni, parents, and friends amidst the beautiful scenery of Laguna Hills, California! This is an exceptional opportunity to connect with the BU community in Southern California while meeting others who share a passion for the University.

We look forward to fun and fellowship as we come together to celebrate our collective Baylor spirit and hear from Orange County native and Baylor Volleyball alumna Jenne Blackburn (BA '09) and award winning radio and television personality Deb Carson (BBA '88).

Refreshments will be served. The event address will be provided upon registration. A portion of your registration will go to support Baylor student scholarships.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS

Jenne Blackburn (BA '09) has been at the forefront of innovative and effective strategies for more than 13 years, working with brands like VMware, WeWork, SONY, Location Based Technologies, American Idol/ABC, USA Volleyball, and many local, national, and global NGO's.

Jenne's research interests include women’s empowerment, leveling the playing field for underestimated entrepreneurs, and the intersection of sport and community development. She is currently building her next project with the Center for Sport Peace and Society, based out of the University of Tennessee, to help competitive athletes after they transition out of sport. Jenne's book and research, Always An Athlete, was launched at the espnW Summit at the end of in 2023 and has endorsements from industry executives, doctors, coaches, influencers and legends, including Billie Jean King.

Deb Carson (BBA '88) is an award-winning multimedia personality best known for her nearly sixteen-year tenure as a network anchor and host for Fox Sports Radio. During her time with FSR, Deb anchored national sports reports and delivered breaking news during Fox Sports Radio’s hit shows, including The Dan Patrick Show, The Herd with Colin Cowherd, The Rich Eisen Show and many more. Carson also served as Co-Host of FSR's The Stephen A. Smith Show.

Deb has been a frequent sports contributor to a variety of media outlets including TMZ Live, Premiere Networks' America Now with Meghan McCain and America Now with Andy Dean, KFI's The Bill Handel Show and a multitude of sports and news stations across the country. She has also enjoyed opportunities to appear on TV shows and films such as Evan Almighty, Will & Grace, All-American, Dexter, Lethal Weapon, The Practice, and many others.

Deb’s broadcasting journey began at Baylor University as part of the Baylor Baseball Broadcast Crew, during which she became the first female student-sportscaster to call live game action in the (now former) Southwest Conference. After graduating from Baylor University, she moved to L.A. to join Merv Griffin Enterprises’ production staff on the hit game show Wheel of Fortune.

Carson has since made a name for herself as a TV Host, Anchor and Reporter, working on a variety of news and entertainment projects. Deb is also a writer, producer, financial coach and a mentor and coach to up-and-coming broadcasters. Her podcast debut, Powered by Purpose with Deb Carson, launched in February 2024.
